Diet

As is the case with many cancers, an individual's diet has been identified as a major area of concern. For over ten years there have been important medical studies identifying the relationship between high-fat diets and prostate cancer. See Chapter 6 entitled "Nutrition: A Major Factor in Prostate Health" of Prostate Health in 90 Days Without Drugs or Surgery for more information.

In addition, pralt-discuss members have also covered other important dietary health issues.

Beware stainless steel
From: sysop

Hello All!

Recently Larry rec'd an email about how some microwater devices release nickel into the water due to having stainless steel electrodes. (For those of you who are not familiar with microwater, it is a special drinking water that is exceptionally alkaline and has a different structure and electrical properties. It first came to notice in Japan, where researchers noted that people drinking water which came from certain fast-moving, rocky mountain streams enjoyed extraordinarily good health. Drinking alkaline Microwater helps the body clear out acidic wastes and restore the cellular pH balance to normal. For more information, see the prostate90.com website).

Nickel is toxic to the prostate. Other sources of nickel emissions from stainless steel can come from stainless steel water distillers and stainless steel cookware.

Mexican Cancer Clinics

From: Taras

Hiya guys (and girls)

I just returned from a whirlwind tour of the Mexican Cancer Clinics; about 10 of them! I saw the Gerson Institute, Dr. Kurt Donsbach's(sp?) Hospital Santa Monica, overlooking the water in Rosarita Beach, and many more. I will collect my thoughts and post soon, accordingly.

One thing I will say in the meantime is "Drink your carrot juice". If there's any one thing they all had in common, it was plenty of Fresh Organic Carrot Juice.

From: Taras

I recently wrote, after a short visit to some of the Tijuana Cancer Clinics:

One thing I will say in the meantime is "Drink your carrot juice". If there's any one thing they all had in common, it was plenty of Fresh Organic Carrot Juice.

and, my friend Don Cooley responded:

There is enough evidence as far as Dr. Myers is concerned to disprove your recommendation. Frankly I will take Dr. Myers opinion and research before I would take any of the south of the boarder quacks. Let me just give you a few simple paragraphs of Dr. Myers Prostate Forum dated June 1998. In case you would want to read some scientific findings you can subscribe by calling 804 974-1303. But of course you seem to like the Mexican contingent of killers.

So, I guess it's safe to say, at the least, that carrot juice, and Mexican Clinics, are somewhat of a controversial issue. While I have no friends in any Mexican Clinics, nor am I about to start promoting same, I will say that I continue to drink lots of carrot juice, with celery, beets, spinach, apples and lemons. I will also keep an open mind to any treatment, anywhere.

My PSA continues to drop. The last reading was 1.9, down from a high of 14.5. So, I guess it's safe to say we're all different.

As to the "contingent of killers" assessment , I believe that the urologist that first diagnosed me, and subsequently almost killed Aubrey Pilgrim, in a six-hour prostatectomy, can, like many other north-of-the-border Drs, be included in such a category as well. I don't think we can put a border on human decency.

So, while carrots, like doctors, both north and south of the border are a continuing source of controversy among cancer patients, it's nice to have someone willing to straighten out what I can only say was a rather flip comment on my part. Thank you, Don.

On another note, I also still eat flax seed meal. Not recommended either.

Obviously, while I don't do these things to taunt my circumstances, they seem to be working for me. I would caution anyone to make sure that they know what and isn't working for them.

With respect to the Cancer Clinics in Mexico, is there anyone amongst us who has had any dealings with them? I would appreciate knowing what that experience has been. I personally have no opinion on the clinics as I still lack the information with which to draw any conclusions.

Rather than start a controversy over the "Mexican Killers" on any list, I would appreciate if you would send your comments privately to me.

Thanks in advance.

Water Filters and Diet notes
From: Greg & Judy

Hi to Larry and group;

It's been two weeks since we (Greg & Judy) completed the U.F. We've been busy following up on more of the plan. We lost a couple more pounds the first week after starting to eat again and we fell fine. Some notes of information for others:

1) We found a Reverse Osmosis filter system at Home Depot. The system is 5 stages, made by HoneyWell. Cost was $198 +tax. 2 year warranty, 18 gal per day capacity. COSTCO (recommended in Larry's book) is a discount buyers club for retired rail works and others of similar professions. We talked to the Premier Co, about their 5 stage system. It costs $210 + S/H out of Arizona. You can order direct from them.

2) We are eating following guidelines from a diet plan called The Zone. Barry Sears Ph. D. has written several books on the topic. It involves balancing protein, carbohydrates and 'good fat' at each meal in order to promote optimum production of 'good' ecosanoids, hormones that control cell energy and development. We are feeling more comfortable eating on this type of diet, than strict vegetarian. We did the first week after U.F veggie style, then switched to The Zone this week.

3) I have completed a series of tests with a holistic MD over the past week, including the DMPS test for metals. It'll be a couple weeks before all the lab work is back to report any results. I had a PSA test included.

Keeping busy getting on the track to optimum health, regards to all.
